About the Owner
Mauricio and his wife decided to move to Tracy, CA and start their family here because of the potential Tracy, CA showed. What sets J&M Transmission and Auto Care apart from other shops is the owner, Mauricio.
Mauricio speaks fluent Spanish and has been raised around the transmission business literally since he was born. Mauricio's father has owned a transmission repair shop in the Bay Area for over 40 years and groomed him, hands on, on all aspects of the repair business. From diagnostics, services, repairs, and overhauls, the transmission and automotive repair industry has been a family trade.
Mauricio graduated with his bachelors degree from San Jose State University. His kind personality, business degree, and many years of technical training give J&M Transmission and Auto Care what it needs to be successful.

  • I had several people recommend J&M transmission to me. I searched for a good shop to take my Jetta to and found Maricio's shop to be close to my residence. I called and asked to speak to a mechanic about the problem I was having. Low and behold, they put Maricio on the phone. I want to say that he was straight forward and eased a lot of my tension about repairing my car. Not only did I get great service, but the whole team was kind and curtious. My car is running great, and my wallet did not get drained. Thank you J&M for an awesome and professional experience

  • I take my vehicles to Mauricio Urteaga, and I refer my friends to his shop not only because of his vast automotive knowledge, but also because of his honesty and integrity. J&M Transmission can perform a wide variety of services on most makes and models, but if there is a special vehicle that requires unique expertise, Mauricio will refer that vehicle to an appropriate repair shop. Transmissions are a specialty, but J&M Transmission and Auto Care can also help with brakes, steering and more. I highly recommend J&M Transmission!

  • Went there for a transmission flush, knowing there is a problem coming up with it. while I waited, they pulled the pan out and saw some metal debris and advised on the issue and gave me my options on price and reliability. They replaced my transmission with a reman' with a warranty of 500,000 miles and 3 years (which ever comes first). The car is running like a charm. Need to take it in for post job check soon. Very Friendly and caring service by Mauricio and Sheila.

  • I own a Garage in Clovis, Ca. When traveling I had a fuel pump go bad. This shop took care of me and got me back on the road the same day. The staff behind the counter is as friendly and knowledgeable as the mechanics in the shop. They took there time, diagnosed the problem, fixed it at a reasonable price and I was on my way. From on shop owner to another this shop is top notch. I won't go anywhere else in Tracy for my vehicle repairs. Thank You

  • I selected J&M Transmission as a potential mechanic to solve an issue with the electronic overdrive on my Ford E250 Van. I stopped by in person to take a look at their operation because I wanted to get a feel for their shop. My first impression: Neat, clean & well organized. J&M Transmission had several highly rated Yelp reviews raving about the quality of their work, and the honesty of the company. Upon entering the shop I found the staff to be friendly, helpful, engaging, and genuinely interested in solving the problem I was having with my truck. So I arranged to drop off the truck the next morning for them to take a look at it. My transmission problem was intermittent, it would snarl its ugly head occasionally, and then work perfectly for many days. Mauricio took a lot of time and effort to identify the source of the issue which was a frayed wire that was shorting out the electronic overdrive sending unit. This is the type of problem that can be quite elusive to locate – and one other shop tried and failed. Mauricio charged me less than the repair estimate, saving me money – but even more important I was impressed with the thoroughness of his methodology, and insistence on recreating the problem before initiating any repairs. Mauricio also told me when I picked up the truck that he noticed a worn right tie rod end and recommended that I make it a priority to replace it because it’s a safety issue. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend this shop for transmission work, and general auto mechanical repair. I’ve already set an appointment to get that tie rod end replaced. These people are kind, friendly, helpful, and honest.
